Dr Eng Maurice De Souza is a civil engineer. He graduated in 1971 with a Doctorate in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in transport, highways, airports and bridges, from the University of Rome and Palermo in Italy. Since then he has worked in a major international Italian construction company as the Director and Group Contracts Manager, supervising and managing various construction contractors all over East and Central Africa.

He is currently also an Arbitrator, Adjudicator and Mediator, accredited as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, ie FCIA London. In this capacity, he conducts and participates in international and local arbitrations, adjudications and mediations. He is on the panel of Arbitrators of the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration and Kigali International Arbitrators.
Besides being part of the founding group of students of Strathmore College, he was appointed to the Strathmore University Board of Trustees in October 2009, having also previously been a member of the Strathmore School Board of Governors.
