Fernando is an Architect and owner of Archten Architects. He has previously worked as an architect with Arquitectura y Urbanismo (Spain), Imara Educational Foundation and Tectura International. He graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture and Town Planning from the University of Navarra (Spain) in 1985. He was registered as an architect by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya in 1999 and is a corporate member of the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK). He served in the school board of Strathmore School between 2004 and 2008. He is currently also a member of the  University Council at Strathmore University. He joined the trust as a trustee in 2004.
